Not generally. Many people have had great improvements with acne breakouts from using tallow due to its balancing and healing properties. That being said, everyones skin is different and responds differently to products. If you find your skin breaking out from using tallow, it could be that you're using too much product, or your skin is reacting to the use of a new product. If you are switching to using tallow, we recommend using a small amount every other day on your face, and then increase to every day once a day, and then two times a day if you feel you need it. The slow build up will allow your skin to get used to the new product and will help with breakouts while your skin gets used to tallow. Also, a little goes a long way, so using a smaller amount will also help with this. Keep in mind as well that breakouts are often a sign of something going on internally. So getting to the bottom of the cause of your breakouts will help with this.
Our products will last a year at room temperature.
No. Our products are shelf stable at room temperature.
With fluctuations of temperature, our products can melt and harden. Large temperature fluctuations will sometimes cause it to harden back up with a grainy texture. This does not change the effectiveness of the product and it is still good to use. If this happens and you have a problem with the product please let us know and we can rectify the issue.
You can use tallow for anything! This includes diaper rash, eczema, psoriasis, dry itchy skin, healing for closed wounds, sunburn, pregnancy, or anything that is causing discomfort!
You can use tallow anywhere that you need it on the body, including the face. We love slathering up with this straight out of the shower, as our face cream, and on our babies for dry skin or rashes.
Tallow
Our tallow is sourced from a couple of small farms in our area that we trust! We use local grass fed and finished organic suet, and render it ourselves to get a beautiful pure tallow, containing the highest levels of nutrients possible. Tallow makes up the majority of all of our products as we believe that tallow is where the magic is in our skincare.
Jojoba oil:
Jojoba oil contains a similar composition to ‘sebum’ which is what our skin produces to provide moisture. By applying jojoba oil, you are aiding your skins natural sebum production. It also helps balance the skin and has good absorption. This means it doesn't sit on top of the skin, but soaks in. Jojoba oil also has a longer shelf life than other plant based oils, making our product shelf stable for longer. We use cold pressed, unrefined jojoba oil in our products.
Cocoa butter:
Cocoa butter is great for soothing dry, irritated, and red skin. It helps with scarring and stretch marks and feels great rubbed into the skin. Our cocoa butter is natural and unrefined and gives our unscented tallow a lightly cocoa butter smell that is quite lovely!
Kokum butter:
Kokum butter aids in absorption of our tallow creams due to its emollient properties, and is high in essential fatty acids and vitamins. This is a powerful anti aging butter, a good natural moisturizer, and has anti-inflammatory properties. Kokum butter helps aid the protective barrier function of the skin as well. All of these properties and more made this a perfect fit to add in to our tallow creams!
